V. Stephen Monroe, Jr., MD FACC

Dr. Stephen Monroe earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine at Tampa and completed his internship, internal medicine residency, and cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. He held the position of assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Dr. Monroe was one of the first cardiologists in this area to perform radial catheterizations. Currently, Dr. Monroe is involved in a number of cardiology research studies either as principal investigator, co-investigator or sub-investigator, or protocol co-author. The studies range from establishing condition-specific treatment guidelines to examining the safety and efficacy of pharmacological treatments. He is also currently participating in ongoing clinical trials.

Dr. Monroe has been published in the American Heart Association’s journal, Circulation, as well as in Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases, The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and The American Heart Journal.

He has co-authored chapters in the books Cardiology and Cardiovascular Therapeutics, A Companion to Braunwald’s Heart 2nd Edition and has presented before the members of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. Dr. Monroe is board certified in cardiology and is a member of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society.

Dr. Monroe is an avid hiker. He and his family enjoy many outdoor activities.
